My group and I got together to discuss what we wanted to be
in our music video. We all contributed our ideas and thoughts. We used this
format storyboards as we find they are very detailed in what is happening in
every shot and how the shot would be like. We found it hard to do our
storyboards as it was hard to know what the location would be like on the day.
And as we don't go to this location often we didn't know what we could us. We
know what the locations looked like and would be there. This is what we based
our storyboards on. The duration of the shot was unknown until get to editing,
so when we go to film we plan to film shots longer the needed that way we can
crop the section we think is most suitable.
Shot no.2:The camera would be positioned at a straight angle; this is because we didn't want the character looking small or big. This is a long shot of girl one walking down the river bank path looking out at the river. The camera is tracking the person as they walk along. The reason for this camera got is to introduce the girl one and a long shot also shows some of the scenery. This shot also goes well with the point that the song is at as the shot is mellow. This is located in River Side Country Park.
Shot no.6:
The camera would be positioned at a straight angle; this is because we didn't need the characters to make a statement. This is a wide shot of all three of the friends walking into the shot. They are located in Dockside Chatham.
Shot no.10:
This shot is a close up shot of one of the girls having a look at the menu. This shows that they have sat down for lunch. This is lunch time as the girls are eating in daylight. This would be at a high angle as it is a point of view shot as well. This shot is set in Dockside Chatham.
Shot no.13:
This is as transition shot as the girl walks along the path. The frame only views the person’s feet walking along. As this person walks along they walk onto a new path. The camera tilts up to show that they are as a new location.
Shot no.17:
The shot type will be a long shot from the side. High angle shot of a girl looking at the products on the stall. This is a long shot became we can see what she is doing and are able to see her body language. There is no angle on this shot. This shot is set in Camden markets.
Shot no.21:
This is part of a montage of tub stations; this is a long shot because it shows the surroundings. This particular shot is at Covert Gardens tube station. We choose iconic and popular places to film. That way people will recognise the stops. The camera would be perditions from the tubs doors as they open. This way it looks like the friends are looking out of the doors. This makes the viewer feel that they are on this journey with them.
Shot no.25:
This is located in dockside again as this frame goes well with what point the song is at. The shot is a wide angle shot to show the location they are in and what the day is like. This is part of our daylight half of video. A wide shot fits in well for these reasons. In this clip the three friends are walking along the water side. This is showing them traveling place to place. Having this three person shot shows the bond that the three of them have together. The angle of the shot is a low angle to make them look big and stronger together.
Shot no.29:
This is located in China town. China town itself is very themed with the Chinese lanterns, colours, patterns and Chinese writing, written on the buildings. We like them a lot as it made this location unique and different from the others. This is a two person shot of the girls walking into China town, as they walking you can see the China downs gateway. This signifies where we are as the gateway is decorated with the Chinese patterns and images. We choose to do a two person shot because how busy China town was going to be so it was not practical to put the tripod up and we wanted this shot to track. The camera is from the behind the two girls. The shot is a combination of a couple of shots which are two person shot, over the shoulder and also point of view. This is very handy as the show can be interpreted in different ways.
Shot no. 33
This is located at Yo Sushi restaurant. This is because of the way they serve their food on a conveyor belt, which travels around the seating area. This shot is from a point of view short looking at the food goes past. We choose to do this shot because to shows what the character is seeing and shows the kind of restaurant they are in. The character also reaches out to take of the bowls off the conveyor belt. Showing the girls like all different types of cultures. This tells the audience more about the girls and who they are.
Shot no.37:
A long got of the tubes stations walk away with a tube going past. This is located in Westminster station as this is another one of our locations. The reason for this shot is a transition shot as the tube races past the camera fades into the next shot. This is to link the last location with our next one, making our video more continues and flow well.
Shot no.41:
This is located in Namco in Westminster. This is next as we wanted this location to be in the day time because of the iconic landscapes. This is a match on match action shot as the two girls go down the escalators into the arcades to meet their other friends. The shot is from the floor making this a low angle shot looking as her friends as her friends come down. The point of this shot is to show them entering the arcades into a new scene. And a match on match action shot is a good technique to use as it shows good transitions in entering a location.
Shot no.45:
In the same location which is Namco in Westminster. This frame is located at the bar area were the friends is walking over with the drink. The shot type is a point of view shot. The reason for this is because it shows what the friend is doing from the other persons prospective and we can see what the other friends can see too. We liked the idea of doing different point of view shots as this type of shot goes with the theme of our video.
Shot no.49:
This is located inside one of the tubes that the girls will be traveling on to get to each location. This is a long shot/ two person shot of the girls sitting on the tube chatting each other while the tube is moving. There is no angle on the camera as they are just sitting down and nothing dramatic I happening.
Shot no.53:
The location is Piccadilly Circus on the big statue. All the friends are sitting on the statue looking out onto the sentry. As Piccadilly has the giant TV screens and the red a bus going past there is a lot to look at. This is an over the shoulder shot of the girls this way the audience can look at the sentry and can also see the characters too. The camera is going to pan that way the frame will show more then what is just in front.
Shot no. 56
In Leicester square (M&M World) a long shot of the shot showing all the colourful products and statues inside. This is showing what the girls are about to walk into and how it relates the point of song we are in. At this stage we are transitioning dusk to night time sky. Having these bright colours help with this because it creates a contrast to the light that is present in the frame of dust time.
Shot no. 60:
A long got of the tubes stations walk away with a tube going past. This is located in Camden Town station as this is another one of our locations. The reason for this shot is a transition shot as the tube races past the camera fades into the next shot. This is to link the last location with our next one, making our video more continues and flow well.
Shot no.64:
This is a montage of the Soho area and streets from a long shot type. This is to show how busy and to show how much is going on in Soho nightlife. In this frame you can see the girls standing in the street with their night out costume. This is showing that they are going out for the night.
Shot no.68:
In Winter Wonderland Christmas market. A long shot of the Christmas stalls showing all the lights and products. The stalls are wooden giving them a real Christmas feel to them. When we see wooden cabin buildings it reminds us of the North Pole/ cold countries (where Father Christmas lives). The camera would track down the side of the stalls showing the festivity. In this shot you will also able to see the girls at one of the stalls and products.
Shot no.72:
The train ride home from there time together. This is a close up shot of girl twos face. This is to show the emotion of the girls face to see that she has had a good time with her friends but is also sad as they are all moving away for university. This starts to tell what is about to happen at the end of the music video.
The storyboard we did together in our lessons time and completed. We are using these storyboards as a base to go off of as we don't know how the locations are going to be on the day and we might find more or better shots them planned. This was very helpful for us to do as we have a structure to go from. When we go out to film these should be very helpful to us as it will suggest what to do next.
