55. Rochester Feedback

As I mentioned in my past post I was not able to attend this filming day, but when I got back to school my team mates showed me the footage and have me feedback on the whole day.

On Saturday Eleanor competed the rest of our main video. They arrived at Rochester at 12:30 and the filming took then approximately three hours in total. They did find my absence a pain at times as it made it hard to do two person shots. Though they could have used the tripod as it is a public place Eleanor didn't feel comfortable with leaving the camera (This is her personal camera). This meant that most of their shot only had one character in the shot. Saying that they did manage to do one shot with both of them.  Paige starting with the camera but when she sat down she passed the camera to Eleanor, and as Eleanor received the camera she turned it round to Paige. I found this very clever and impressive of them.

When they arrived they started at the high street and film a still shot. When I saw the video of the art I agreed with them and said that the face makes a statement which that’s what our video does. Paige was unsure about the shot and if it would fit in. I did say you could have improved the shot by having one of the characters in front of the art.

They managed to collect a few shots on the high street one I liked in particular was a wide shot of Eleanor outside the café. Their next stop was the castle unfortunately they were unable to go inside as they didn't have enough money. They still took a good handful of shots outside the castle, which I am very proud of thy creativity and camera work.

They finished at Rochester Cathedral which they were allowed to go inside. They spent most of their time here as the Cathedral is a very big building. Paige was very amazed by the architecture. In this location they filmed more than I expected but it is a good thing.

Before the filming day my team and I spoke about what we wanted to get from this filming day. This was helpful as I wasn't going to be there, but also when my team film they know what they were going to do. Again like past filming days they looked at our storyboards, but they found more fun and creative shots throughout the day which worked out better.

In conclusion I'm very proud of my team mates as they did a brilliant job of filming Rochester. And after looking over their footage I like what they have done and can't wait to edit.
