Looking over our video today we noticed that we broke the
180 degree rule. The 180 degree rule is a cinematography guideline that states
that two characters in a scene should maintain the same left/right relationship
to one another. When the camera passes over the invisible axis connecting the
two subjects, it is called crossing the line and the shot becomes what is
called a reverse angle. As we had broken the 180 degree rule we had to figure
out a way to fix it. We had the idea of flipping the video horizontally. We never
had done this before so we were unsure how to do this. We went onto Google to
find out the answer. Once we were told it was pretty simple. We had to go on
the 'transform' section in Final Cut Pro, and drag one side of the clip to the
other, which caused it to flip.
Though it was bad that we broke one of the rules of filming
I am glade, as it enabled us to learn some new key skills on Final Cut Pro.
